High on the south side of the Ure Valley, Thornton Rust is tucked away off the main A684 road. This lovely backwater is approached from either side by a winding country lane which opens out unexpectedly to a pretty village of wide, grass verges, stone cottages and panoramic views of Wensleydale.
The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve at Seata Quarry or the Kennel Field are both nearby and well worth a visit for nature-lovers.
